Mobile phone is a short-range, electronic device used for mobile voice or data communication over a network of specialized base stations known as cell sites. In addition to the standard voice function of a mobile phone, telephone, current mobile phones may support many additional services, and accessories, such as SMS for text messaging, email, packet switching for access to the Internet, gaming, Bluetooth, infrared, camera with video recorder and MMS for sending and receiving photos and video.
Mobile phones send and receive radio signals with any number of cell site base stations fitted with microwave antennas. These sites are usually mounted on a tower, pole or building, located throughout populated areas, then connected to a cabled communication network and switching system. The phones have a low-power transceiver that transmits voice and data to the nearest cell sites, normally not more than 8 to 13 km (approximately 5 to 8 miles) away.
The most commonly used data application on mobile phones is SMS text messaging, with 74% of all mobile phone users as active users (over 2.4 billion out of 3.3 billion total subscribers at the end of 2007). SMS text messaging was worth over 100 billion dollars in annual revenues in 2007 and the worldwide average of messaging use is 2.6 SMS sent per day per person across the whole mobile phone subscriber base. (source Informa 2007). The first SMS text message was sent from a computer to a mobile phone in 1992 in the UK, while the first person-to-person SMS from phone to phone was sent in Finland in 1993.

Five to the top 10 bestselling books in Japan last year started out as “Cellphane Novels” books that were written on a mobile phone, with the authors tapping out sentence by sentence via text message.
Cellphone novels are largely written in the first person, authored by young women, and designed to be read like a diary. The stories are usually romantic tales written in SMS-style short sentences. But critics point out that this savvy literary genre is shorten plot and character development and will surely hasten the decline of Japanese literature.
Still, one novel, Love Sky, was read by 20 million people on mobile phones and computers. When it was republished in book form, it became the highest-selling novel in Japan. It is now being made into a movie.

Copy editing (also copy-editing and copyediting) is the editorial work that an editor does to make formatting changes and improvements to a manuscript;[1][2] copy (as a noun) refers to written or typewritten text for typesetting, printing, or publication. Copyediting is done prior to work of proofreaders, who handle documents before final publication.[1]
In the United States and Canada, an editor who does this is a copy editor;[1] an organization’s highest-ranking copy editor, or the supervising editor of a group of copy editors, may be known as the copy chief. In book publishing in the United Kingdom and other parts of the world that follow UK nomenclature, the term copy editor is used, but in newspaper and magazine publishing, the term is sub-editor, commonly shortened to sub (“to sub” is the verb form). The senior sub-editor on a title is referred to as the Chief Sub-Editor.

Zimbabwe’s first ODI at home since December 2007 had a promising beginning but ended in disaster. Their top order laid a steady platform against Sri Lanka on Thursday, reaching 124 for 3, but they lost their last seven wickets for three runs in 3.5 dramatic overs. Zimbabwe’s last six batsmen were all dismissed for 0, equalling the record for most ducks in an innings. It was a calamitous collapse that would have severely dented the confidence of a young side, but captain Prosper Utseya said his batsmen had learnt from the experience. Converting the knowledge into an improved on-field performance, however, won’t be easy as Sri Lanka are unlikely to take the hosts lightly.
Mahela Jayawardene, the Sri Lankan captain, said he wanted a “much better standard” from his players. He said Zimbabwe should not have scored as much as 127 and called for improvement despite winning by six wickets and with 16.4 overs to spare.

Amar Kaul is a pathologically timid and boring 37-year-old virgin, who works as an accountant in a pharmaceutical company and lives with his mother.
One day, he is diagnosed with stomach cancer and told that he has two months to live. The meek worker drone decides to spend his last days on earth fulfilling his heart’s deepest desires and in the process, he discovers how beautiful life really is.
Similar premises have been played out in scores of Hollywood movies like Bucket List and My Life Without Me.
Debutant director Shashant Shah tries to infuse some originality into it with a range of characters such as Amar’s eccentric mother who has hearing problems and his Jabba-from-Stars Wars style boss who alternates between gulping down food and berating Amar.
Vinay Pathak who is in almost every frame, works hard to achieve the right balance of pathos and comedy but unlike Bheja Fry’s Bharat Bhushan, Amar Kaul simply doesn’t have enough meat for Pathak to sink his teeth into.
Dasvidaniya is well-intended. It strains hard for poignancy but unfortunately it only manages to be predictable and plodding. There are a few nicely done emotional scenes but mostly this story of an ordinary life remains painfully ordinary. See it if you must.
