Jyothika Sadanah Saravanan ( ஜோதிகா சாதானா சரவணன் ) is a Tamil actress who has acted in the Tamil and some Telugu films. She is widely popular in Kollywood.
Her first movie was the Hindi film Doli Saja Ke Rakhna, directed by Priyadarshan, opposite Akshaye Khanna. Though the film did not do well at the box office, she was noticed by the Tamil industry. She proceeded to act in Kollywood, where she debuted in a guest appearance in Vaali. Jyothika won the Filmfare Award for the Best Newcomer for this film. Her first Tamil movie as a heroine was Poovellam Kettuppar with Surya. A string of successful movies followed, among them Kushi,for which she won the Filmfare award for the Best Actress, Tenali and Dumm Dumm Dumm. In 2003 she starred in Dhool with Vikram, in Kaaka Kaaka with Surya and in Thirumalai with Vijay. In 2004, she acted in a double role for Perazhagan and received the Dinakaran Best Actress Award and TheFilmfare award and the Tamil Nadu State Award for it.Her biggest success to-date is Chandramukhi, with Rajnikanth, where she played a lady suffering from Multiple Personality Disorder. Jyotika was lauded for her performance in the role by many eminent personalities.She won the Tamil Nadu State award yet again, for this movie. Her performances in movies like Vettayadu Vilayadu,(with Kamal Hassan, with whom she paired up again after Tenali) Sillunu oru Kadhal, were also applauded equally well.Jyotika’s best came in Radha Mohan’s Mozhi, where she played a deaf and mute girl and Gautham Menon’s Pachakkili Muthuchiram , where she essayed a negative role for the first time. Mozhi was one of the hugest hits of 2007, and Jyotika was praised high for her excellent portrayal of Archana.Thus Jyothika left the filed of arc lights leaving a lasting impact.Simran and Jyotika are considered as one of the brightest and most succesfull actresses in the history of Tamil Cinema. She was also the Brand Ambassador for RMKV, the famous wardrobe hub in Chennai. It was reported that her inception had increased the market value of the store. At a given point of time, “Entha Colour”, the caption for one of the advertisement, were the buzz words among chennai-ites.
